I had the opportunity to try out the Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership from SchoolhouseTeachers.com over the last 4 weeks.
The SchoolhouseTeachers membership has everything you would need to homeschool all of your children for their entire education, as long as you don’t mind using online or printed-out materials.
I’m thrilled to discover this resource because, for me, SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a gold mine of video-based curriculum that will help take some of the workload off me for the “extra” subjects.
What’s Included in a SchoolhouseTeachers.com Membership?
SchoolhouseTeachers.com is an online annual subscription program for Pre-K through 12th grades, which includes over 450 individual homeschool courses. This includes video-based, printable text-based, and interactive courses.
The subscription also includes parent resources, a video library, and access to World Book Encyclopedia online.
In addition, there aren’t any limits to how you use the site, like some other online subscriptions. You can use it with as many children as you want, as many classes as you want, at whatever pace you want.
Our Experience With SchoolhouseTeachers Curriculum
During this review period, I used an elementary-level video-based science program and a printable history unit study with my children. I also downloaded and used 2 teacher planner resources.
Science Experiments with Jason Lindsey
I have been searching for an easy-to-use science experiment program for my 2nd and 4th graders. So I was excited to find the video-based course, Science Experiments with Jason Lindsey on SchoolhouseTeacher.com.
Each of the 21 experiments included in this course includes a short video of Lindsey introducing the key science concepts and demonstrating the experiment. Lesson plans, experiment instructions, and a page for the child to fill out are also included.
This course has been a hit with my children. They beg me every day to do another experiment. Plus, it’s so easy to use. Linsey teaches the concept and demonstrates the experiment for students first, so they know exactly what to do. In addition, all the supplies were inexpensive and easy to find at Walmart.
A few of the interesting experiments we conducted include:
- Pop a Balloon with an Orange
- Pop a Balloon Inside a Balloon
- Notebook Spring Launcher
- Pool Noodle Marble Run
- Thanksgiving Egg Drop
- Glue Stick Sunset
- Cranberry Structure (see photos below)
Cranberry Toothpick Structure Experiment
First, we watched the video lesson and demonstration on SchoolhouseTeachers.com.
Then, we conducted the experiment ourselves using the lesson plans.
Lastly, we filled out the experiment worksheet.
American Revolution Unit Study
The other SchoolhouseTeachers course we tried was a unit study about the American Revolution. Three of my children were learning about the Revolutionary War in our history curriculum, so I printed out this unit study as a supplement. This 17-page print out was a great written summary of all the events of the war. I simply read through the material and then used the questions included to quiz them on their knowledge.
SchoolhouseTeachers Planner Downloads
I downloaded both the 750-page Schoolhouse Planner and the 400-page High School Schoolhouse Planner, which are included in the Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership.
These downloads are more than just planners. While they do include every type of form you will ever need to homeschool all the way through high school, I also found a wealth of useful reference materials.
For example, I printed out a dozen math and science topical reference charts including prime numbers, multiples, factors, unit conversion, and human body systems. The high school planner includes almost 50 Must-Know Lists that cover a broad list of topics such as Common Greek and Latin Roots, the Miracles of Jesus, and Elements by Atomic Number.
SchoolhouseTeachers Courses We’re Planning on Using in the Future:
I’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s available on SchoolhouseTeachers.com, but the following list includes some of the courses that I’m interested in using with my children in the near future.
- ASL (American Sign Language) Adventures (video-based)
- Elementary Spanish (video-based)
- High School Biology (video-based)
- High School Earth Science (video-based)
- Drive Thru History – American History (video-based)
- Guitar (video-based)
- Music Theory (text)
- Public Speaking (text)
- How to Use Microsoft Word (video-based)
- Drawing with Realism (video-based)
- Dinosaurs and the Bible (video-based)
- Creation, Nature, and You Science (video-based)
- Career Exploration for High School (text)

What I Liked About SchoolhouseTeachers
Here are the things I like about SchoolhouseTeachers.com:
- There are no limits. You can use it with as many children as you want and as many classes as you want.
- It’s flexible. It can be used for all subjects, as a supplement, or for specific classes.
- There are lots of video-based classes.
- There is a video library. A lot of the classes have video lessons, but the video library has additional educational videos.
- It includes a subscription to World Book Online. This website includes educational videos, ebooks, games, and printables.
- Lesson plans are included for all courses. The lesson plans include daily checklists for students.
- The courses have a Biblical worldview.
- It includes a Charlotte Mason Learning Center. This is a list of all the courses on the site that align with her methods.
- The site is easy to navigate. For example, you can bookmark all the classes you’re using, and access them on the member dashboard. Also, in the image pictured below, you can see that when you’re searching for courses, all the content is coded with shapes to indicate whether the course is video, audio, interactive, etc.
What I Didn’t Like About SchoolhouseTeachers
Here are the things I didn’t like about SchoolhouseTeachers.com:
- The program is completely online, so there are no physical books.
- You have to print it out if you want a physical copy.

My Opinion
I’m excited to use some SchoolhouseTeachers courses with my children over the next year.
However, I will not be using it for every subject. I feel like it’s important to use physical books for some subjects, especially reading and language arts. A tablet would work fine for all the materials children need to read on SchoolhouseTeacher.com, but it’s not my preference. Also, I prefer the math curriculum we’re already using to the programs I checked out on this site.
How I Plan to Use SchoolhouseTeachers.com
I’ll continue using the physical books we already use for language arts, reading, and math. But for science, history, music, art, foreign languages, computer, and high school electives, I anticipate using a lot of SchoolhouseTeachers courses.
Is It Worth the Money?
The video-based classes alone make this website worth the subscription cost. In my opinion, SchoolhouseTeachers.com is an excellent value for the money.
If you’re interested, you can check it out for yourself at SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

I really like using the planners from SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Makes it very easy for me to prepare and plan for my teen’s homeschooling weeks.
Yes, the planners are awesome, Kristen! We’ve been appreciating them too.
